Wendys | Broadway Oakland CA | french fries | gluten | 2015 Aug 9

* Disclaimer:  This is only a test of a sample; and accordingly, it is not a guarantee as to whether the tested food contains the tested substance.

Restaurant:  Wendy's, 5211 Broadway, Oakland CA
Food:  french fries
Results:  negative for gluten to 5 PPM
Date:  2015 August 9
Notes:  The negative result is based on the test kit's instructions to wait no more than 10 minutes for the result. However, about 10 minutes later, the result showed indications of a positive test (a faint red line) - as shown in the second photo below. Per the email appended below, the test kit company's representative states that this late result indicates that there is some gluten, but below the 5 PPM threshold.

Test Kit:  Glutentox
Tester:  Ryan Alvarez-Cohen

Hi Ryan,

You’ve got it exactly right!
If the line is showing up at 20 or 30 minutes it’s almost always an indication that there’s *some* amount of gluten in the sample - but not enough for the kit to accurately quantify.
The 10 minute mark is what counts for determining whether the sample has met the test threshold of not - marks that show up later usually mean there’s a ppm or two floating around somewhere in the sample.
